Note - I'm backlogging like crazy -

At this point I haven't had the time to really put together a marketing plan. a no no in the world of book slinging. So what I'm doing is basically selling anywhere I can fit it in (hair salon, mechanic's shop, airplanes - yes airplanes). And believe it or not the airplane - on my way to Anguilla to be in my best friend's fly wedding to be exact - is where I made some of my more prominent contacts.

This is amazing to me being that I was really apprehensive about making my book pitch (in my hair bonnet nevertheless) but my stister (that's the way I like saying it) wasn't going to let me sleep until at least five people sitting by us heard about my book. Her nose was flaired - her eyes were wide - she could smell a sale.

And to my surprise the people she talked to purchased books - and to my surprise some purchased more than one copy (shout out to Lourdes on her way to Puerto Rico to visit family) and to my surprise they kept in touch through email and one is even going as far as to set some things up at the university where he teaches and with friends in similar positions (shout out to Prof. Max on his way to visit the house he's building in St Thomas).

The lesson in this is I'm still trying to find confidence and comfort in approaching strangers. Doing this is hard so it is really amazing to me when I find support in people who last week, yesterday, last night - I didn't even know.
